Advocacy Dialogue on SDGs:1 Poverty Eradication

Sustainable development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations, are a universal call to action to eliminate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure, peace and prosperity to all human beings.

With the aim of achieving Sustainable development Goals in our state and nation, Institute for Sustainable Development and Governance has initiated a series of Advocacy Dialogue meetings focusing on each of the 17 goals (SDGs).

We have organised the first meeting, in this regard, on Friday, December 8th, 2017 at ISDG Centre in Golf Links  from 3 pm to 5.30 pm focusing on the topic ‘Poverty Eradication in Kerala Context’.

Dr. K. Raviraman, Kerala State Planning Board Member and Mr. Sabir Hussein, District Coordinator, Kudumbashree, Pathanamthitta presented papers on the theme at the function. Experts in the areas of public policy, governance, civil society and media also participated in the function.

In the lively question-answer session which followed the presentation, several issues faced by the marginalised sections and the lacuna on the part of the government in implementing the schemes and funds earmarked for the poor, SC, ST, fisherfolks etc. were discussed
